Laurel
Valley: A Specialized Alzheimer’s Unit
Laurel Valley is designed to focus on the social and emotional needs of
the Alzheimer’s resident. The
unit’s structure provides a safe environment promoting
independence and dignity in a secured unit.
Staff from all departments are
specially trained to work on Laurel Valley and all staff of St. Luke
receive ongoing training in the care of the Alzheimer’s resident.
The therapeutic recreation staff
provides individual and group activities specific for the Alzheimer’s
resident’s needs.
Laurel Valley is Medicaid and Medicare
certified. Criteria
for admission includes an Alzheimer’s or Alzheimer’s like dementia
diagnosis. The individual is
assessed prior to admission to the unit.
